The history of neon

Neon lights are the beauticians of the city. When night falls, when the lights are on, the colorful neon lights make the city extraordinarily beautiful. So, how was the neon light invented?
It is said that the neon lights were accidentally discovered by British chemist Ramsay in an experiment. It was a night in June 1898. Ramsay and his assistants were conducting experiments in the laboratory to check whether a rare gas conducts electricity.
Ramsay injects a rare gas into a vacuum glass tube, and then connects the two metal electrodes enclosed in the vacuum glass tube to a high-voltage power supply, and concentrates on observing whether this gas conducts electricity.
Suddenly, an unexpected phenomenon occurred: the rare gas injected into the vacuum tube not only began to conduct electricity, but also emitted an extremely beautiful red light. This magical red light surprised Ramsay and his assistants, and they opened the door to the neon world.

Ramsay named this rare gas that can conduct electricity and emit red light as neon gas. Later, he continued to experiment on the properties of some other gases for conducting electricity and emitting colored light, and successively discovered that xenon gas can emit white light, argon gas can emit blue light, helium gas can emit yellow light, and krypton gas can emit dark blue light... different The gas can emit different colors, colorful, like a beautiful rainbow in the sky. The neon light also got its name.
The method of making neon lights is to use low-melting sodium-lime silicate glass as the lamp tube, design different patterns and characters according to the needs, process it with a blowtorch, then sinter the electrode, and then use a vacuum pump to evacuate it, and according to the required color It is made by filling different rare gases. The neon lights that are manufactured now are more refined. Some of the glass tubes are bent into various folding shapes to make more moving graphics; others are coated with phosphors on the inner wall of the tube to make the colors brighter and more colorful; some are decorated with neon lights. Put on the automatic igniter to make the lights of various colors brighten and extinguish each other, making the night of the city bright and colorful.
